The unusual size of this miniature furniture fascinates and disturbs us. These miniature masterpieces from many different countries have all been created since the 16th century. Each object has been individually selected; all possess an undoubted originality and quality and reflect the quest for an "out of the way", or even unique, object.

The variety of shapes and scales, the multiplicity of materials used (wood, wax, gold, earthenware, paper, leather, bronze, silver, tortoiseshell, ceramics, etc), and the variety of mechanisms, prove that many different motives lie behind the creation of these little pieces of furniture.
